Learner Uploads
Where and how learners can upload files — like assignment submissions and profile photos.
Learners can upload files in the places where you allow it. They don't browse your whole library — they simply add files to the task in front of them, such as an assignment submission or their profile photo.
Where learners can upload
| Place | What they upload |
|---|---|
| Assignment submissions | Their work — documents, PDFs, images, audio, or video |
| Profile photo | A picture for their account |
Uploads happen right inside the relevant screen. A learner doesn't need to know anything about your file library; they just attach a file to the task.
What a learner sees
When a learner works on an assignment that accepts files:
- They open the assignment.
- They click Add File (or a similar button).
- They choose a file from their device — large files are supported.
- They can add more than one file if the assignment allows.
- When they click Submit, their files are sent along with their submission.
For a profile photo, the learner opens their profile, chooses a new picture, and saves.
Learners can remove their own uploads
A learner can remove a file they added — for example, if they attached the wrong one before submitting. They can only manage files they uploaded themselves; they can't see or touch anyone else's files.
If a learner attaches the wrong file by mistake, they can simply remove it and add the correct one before submitting.
What you see as an admin or instructor
Files a learner submits show up where you review their work — for example, when you open an assignment submission to grade it. You can preview the file (see Previewing files) and download it if you need to.
Good to know
- Learner uploads follow the same file-type and size limits that keep your platform safe. You can set a separate size limit for learners if you want — see Sharing and limits.
- Submitted files stay with the submission so you always have a record of what was handed in.
What's next
- Assignments — set up tasks that learners submit files to.
