Scholarships
Offer discounted or free access through an application program tied to a course, path, or cohort.
A scholarship gives learners a discount — or free access — through an application process. Unlike a coupon code, a scholarship has learners apply, and you approve who gets it. Each scholarship is tied to a specific course, learning path, or cohort.
The two types
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fixed percentage | Every approved applicant gets the same discount (for example, 50% off). |
| Up to a limit | You set the exact percentage for each approved applicant, up to a maximum you've chosen. |
In both cases:
- 100% means free, immediate access.
- A partial percentage means the learner buys at a reduced price.
What you can attach
- An application form — questions the learner answers when applying.
- Revoke rules — conditions that automatically disqualify a learner later, such as failing a quiz or going inactive.
- Active dates — the window during which the scholarship accepts applications.
How it works, step by step
- You create the scholarship in Admin → Scholarships → New Scholarship: pick the course/path/cohort, choose the type and percentage, optionally add a form and revoke rules, and set the active dates.
- A learner applies — they browse the public scholarships and submit an application (filling in your form if you added one).
- You review each application and either:
- Approve it. For the "up to a limit" type, you set the exact percentage for that learner.
- Reject it, with a reason the learner can see.
- Later, you can revoke an approved scholarship — manually, or automatically through the revoke rules you set.
What the learner sees
- A list of public scholarships they can apply to.
- The result of their application — approved (with the discount applied) or rejected (with your reason).
- If approved at 100%, immediate free access. If approved partially, a reduced price at checkout.
Good to know
- Scholarships are reviewed and approved one application at a time, so you stay in control of who receives them.
- You can export scholarship data to a spreadsheet from the billing area.
