Subscriptions

Sell recurring memberships that renew each cycle and grant ongoing access.

A subscription is a recurring plan. The buyer pays on a regular cycle — monthly or yearly, for example — and keeps access for as long as they stay subscribed. It's a good fit for a membership site, an "all-access pass," or any offering you want to bill again and again.

What a subscription plan can offer

SettingWhat it does
Billing tiersDifferent options on the same plan, each with its own price and access length — for example, a monthly tier and an annual tier.
Free trialAn optional period before billing starts, so buyers can try before they pay.
What it unlocksEither all content on your platform, or a specific set of items you choose.
Access length per tierHow long each cycle's access lasts before it renews.

Creating a subscription plan

  1. Go to Admin → Subscriptions → New Plan.
  2. Give the plan a name and description.
  3. Add one or more billing tiers (for example, monthly and annual), each with its price and cycle length.
  4. (Optional) Turn on a free trial and set its length.
  5. Choose what the plan unlocks: all content or a specific set of items.
  6. Publish the plan.

How renewal and cancelling work

  • Access renews automatically each cycle as long as the subscription is active.
  • If a buyer cancels, access continues until the end of the current period, then stops. They aren't cut off mid-cycle.

What the buyer sees

  • The plan's tiers and prices, plus the free trial if you offer one.
  • Ongoing access to whatever the plan unlocks.
  • The option to cancel; after cancelling, they keep access until the period ends.

What you see

In Admin → Subscriptions you can see subscriber counts and revenue for your plans.

Good to know

  • A subscription is one item per buyer — a buyer holds one active plan, billed on its cycle, not a cart of many items.
  • For a course someone pays for once, use a one-time price instead. See Pricing.
